# ZB-1 Protocol

##

**ZB-1** is an experimental application-layer collectible protocol built on the Zcash blockchain.

ZB-1 uses Zcash transactions as the durable record for protocol events while clients independently validate the ZB-1 rules. The design goal is simple:

> **The chain is the database. The client is the indexer. ZB-1 is the protocol.**

ZB-1 powers **ZEC BLOCKS**, a 5,000-item deterministic bitmap collection generated from Zcash block data.

{% hint style="info" %}
ZB-1 is not a native Zcash smart contract and Zcash consensus does not interpret NFT ownership, mining claims, listings, or marketplace rules. ZB-1 clients apply those rules deterministically on top of confirmed Zcash transactions.
{% endhint %}

### Current status

* Network: **Zcash Mainnet**
* Protocol version: **ZB-1**
* Collection: **ZEC BLOCKS**
* Maximum supply: **5,000**
* Mining difficulty: **SHA-256 / 26 leading zero bits**
* Generator: **ZECBLOCKS**
* Genesis transaction: `ecf6fc3a79885f573d79de70a2de85c34667fc1a4fefe034d3a4015269379f0f`
* Genesis confirmation status: **Pending verification before public mining opens**

Public mining should not open until the Genesis transaction is confirmed and the v1 miner, claim validator, ownership reconstruction, transfer, and marketplace clients have completed end-to-end testing.
